One Brigada reader gave this testimony: “Have you heard of wix.com?!?!?! It’s genius! Better than any other site I have used (to build a collaborative online presence for a non-profit) and it’s totally free. I cancelled my Nationbuilder account for it. They claim to advertise on your site, but all that appears is a fancy icon in the upper right, which actually looks nice.” Check out the options at Wix. You might find it’s all you need for your church or mission outreach. And you certainly won’t be able to complain about the price. (Thanks Caleb!)
While free is always good, I would not recommend anyone build a website these days that is flash based. It is easy to make, but the current direction for the web is away from flash and to flat, responsive websites.
MUCH better (& still free) is weebly.com. No flash so it works on mobile and looks clean. I think it’s even easier to learn and use than Wix. I’ve got the pro version of weebly for $5/mo. which adds extra features and allows you to host up to 10 sites (you can host 2 on the free version). And if you need someone to help build you one, well, I don’t know if shameless plugs are allowed here so let’s just say I know somebody :)
