According to a regular Brigada participant (Thanks Greg!), a new virus called CryptoLocker is will try to encrypt all of your documents — and it’s spreading rapidly. The authors then demand $300 to get the key to unlock your files. At the moment, this virus is spreading by people clicking on links in fake e-mails. I.T. specialists have encouraged that we make sure that we have good backups that are not connected to our computer, since the virus would seek out and encrypt all files that are connected to the computer. This includes flash drives, network drives, or external drives. This one is apparently worth fighting.
