Last month we mentioned Smartr Contacts (in the Brigada item, “Try this App to Communicate with your Contacts While On the Go”). Unfortunately, as Brigada Participant, David, pointed out, Yahoo recently acquired the company and, as of last month, promptly stopped selling the app. I guess new prospective users don’t have quite to so much to yell, “Yahooo!” about. Please forgive any inconvenience. Are there other smartphone apps that let the user configure ‘groups’ to which one can then easily send group texts and/or emails via smartphone?

For texting, there is nothing better than the free app “Groupme”. The administrator sets up a group with peoples names and their cell phone numbers. People opt in by answering the first message. From that point forward any messages sent to go to the entire group, and they are prefixed by the sender’s name. Perfect for small groups, mission teams, and families!
I soon realised that having accurate control over the frequency of the charge going to the plate would need a better circuit!
