Is it true? Do we really know more about missionary care for women than we do for men? That was the conclusion of Gary Reed, a a Licensed Professional Counselor with Ministry Care who serves Team Expansion workers worldwide. The Single Vision retreat is for both men and women!
Great Cities Missions has a renewal retreat for women one year and a renewal retreat for men the next. The men in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and other countries close to each other have a men’s retreat every year as do the women. For info from Great Cities speak with Ron and/or Georgia Freitas (ron@greatcities.org; georgia@greatcities.org). Talk with Jim Reppart about Men’s retreats in Africa: jim.reppart@carisfoundation.org.
Just about any other Christian ministry mag. or book is geared to men. There are only three set specifically to help women.
Well, the reason separate women’s organizations exist is because the mission organizations themselves failed to provide adequate care for women. My former organization, for example, is 65% women staff without a single trained female member care person. Women create their own separate, parallel structures because the dominant male structure ignores them.
