  1. THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS — If you’ve been vacationing on Mars for the last 9 years, perhaps you’ve missed the fact that we have some great sponsors and friends that are helping us underwrite the cost of a Brigada-sponsored secretary! :-) This past week, we received $20 from a missions pastor in Southern California (Thanks brother!). We appreciate you! We also rec’d $30 more from the Chalmers Center for Economic Development at Covenant College. *And* $100 from Seneca Creek Community Church in Germantown, MD. God bless you!!! Are there other churches that can step up to the plate to match Seneca Creek’s faith and vision? We’ll apply the funds toward our Brigada secretary so we can keep these Brigada Todays going out the door on time! Just log on at: https://brigada.org and click “sponsor” in the top menu, or just send a check payable to Team Expansion to: Team Expansion (Brigada secretary), 13711 Willow Reed Dr., Louisville, KY 40299. Thanks! As always, be sure to let us know if you’d like us to promote any particular service or ministry, or if you’d prefer your gift by anonymous.

  7. A NEW HEART: THE N. CAPE COLOURED of SOUTH AFRICA — While handing out a few gospel tracts, a couple of believers were asked to explain them. Jennifer, a 53-year-old Coloured woman, admitted to never attending a church, yet she seemed desperate to hear the gospel. Over the distractions of her drunken older sister, Jennifer intently listened in hope. She accepted the Lord that day. She thanked the believers over and over for coming to share the Good News. She said, “For the first time, now my heart feels good.” Pray for Jennifer to be built up in Christ. Pray for the Lord to build prayer support for the Northern Cape Coloureds, an unengaged people group. To adopt them for prayer or for more information, please visit http://www.forgottenpeoples.info or email swacsc at iafrica dot com (replace “at” with @ and “dot” with . and remove the spaces)

  12. LEARN THE ARABIC NEW TESTAMENT — ArabBible is a powerful and innovative software tool, designed to help English-speaking missionaries interactively learn the Classical Arabic of the New Testament. Delivered on CD-ROM, there are more than 50,000 definitions so far, with complete grammatical explanations of every single word in the Gospels! Just click on a word, and you’ll find a wealth of information – not just a dictionary entry for that word, but contextual meaning and thorough grammatical help as well (something that even the best dictionary can never provide). A handy Back Translation helps the user to readily see the structure of the literal Arabic, and can immediately take the mystery out of a particular verse. A Smart-Search Concordance provides a much more comprehensive and revealing search than a typical word-search function, and the Root Analyzer will help you discover, learn and retain entire word families. Another exciting feature of ArabBible is its ability to recite the verse out loud, as read by a native Arabic speaker. You can even slow the speaker’s voice down by 25%, thanks to some high-tech software used in the development of ArabBible! ArabBible can also recite an entire chapter back to you for review. Check out our website at http://www.ArabBible.com and order it online today, or email contact at ArabBible dot com (replace “at” with @ and “dot” with . and remove the spaces) for more details.

  13. BACKUP TO REMOVEABLE MEDIA? — Thanks to Brad, who reminded us this past week of the importance of backing up to some kind of removable media. If the external hard drive sits by the laptop and they both burn up in a house fire, we’d better have something stored offsite! :-) You can use external drives, as long as you store one offsite or at a different location. Today, 80GB drives start in the $130 range, although prices climb with storage capacity. Brad recommended some form of removable media, like 1.4MB floppy disks, high-capacity disk formats like the Zip drive and or the new Rev Drive, which holds 35 gigs on a small cartridge. (These Rev drives might actually be the best choice of all on the current market.) You can also use CD-ROM and DVD drives. CDs have enough space for about 600MB of data; DVDs can hold more than 4GB. Both are economical solutions for backing up large amounts of data for easy storage off-site, as long as you’re there to swap disks. Finally, you do Web-based applications like TOP PRODUCER 7i. You can lease space on remote servers for a subscription fee that starts at as little as $9.95 per month for 500MB of storage. Providers include Xdrive, Connected Corp., and My Docs Online. Finally, you can use simple email. Just attach a file to an e-mail message, and send it to yourself. Then you can open and save the attachment on another computer or store it online on the server of a Web-based e-mail account like Yahoo! Mail. But before you count on a Web-based e-mail service as your principal source of backup, find out how much storage capacity you are allowed and how often the service purges old messages.
