HEADHUNTERS WANTED
If you’ve always wanted to meet a real headhunter, why not become one!!!??? :-) We’re looking for 80 more subscribers by next Friday, March 20th — because on March 21st we celebrate 3 years of weekly Brigada Today newsletters . . . without ever missing a single weekend! So . . . in celebration of our 3-year-old birthday, we will be giving away a free one-year subscription to Brigada Today for every single new subscriber you bring to the network! That’s a value of . . . well . . . that’s a value!!! (The truth is, subscriptions are already free… so something gets lost in the translation here… :-) .) Bottom line . . . please help us spread the word. Since we don’t have a fancy-shmancy marketing department (or budget, for that matter), we have to rely on word-of-mouth publicity. Thanks! Our goal for March 21st 1999 is 10,000 subscribers!!! At that point, as far as we know, we’ll be the largest on-line weekly Christian publication of any kind – for whatever that’s worth. :-) (Do you know of any that’s bigger? If so, let us know at DLucas@TeamExpansion.org. Thanks!) Thanks especially to our dynamite volunteers — Bob Mayhew (web page designer, from California) (Customer Services Managers, from Kansas), and all the regular contributors like John Hanna (“Global Glimpse” compiler, from Colorado). Do we have an office? Nope. In fact, some of us have never even met face to face! But through the magic of the Internet, we keep on pluggin’ away! Thanks for helping to make the Brigada dream a reality!

THANK GOD FOR SPONSORS!!!
Yahoo!!! Yahoo CrossLink Communications has just invested in another year of sponsorship for Brigada expenses! If you get a chance, drop them a note at sales@crosslinkcomm.net to say thanks for the partnership! After all, it’s because of people like Crosslink that we don’t ask for subscription fees! How many sponsors does that make so far for 1998??? A record-setting 2!!! :-) Thanks Sharon Gardner! CrossLink is a Christian based company that helps missionaries select the dialback company best suited for their international calling patterns. Their mission is to help those in full time ministry conserve their resources by finding cheaper ways of staying in touch with the “folks back home”. You can snail-mail Sharon and the CrossLink gang at
9216 Independence Loop
Austin, Texas 78748, USA
tel. 512-292-3308
FAX 512-282-5877.

CrossLink will be promoted as a Brigada network sponsor on the Brigada web page at https://brigada.org . If you’d like to sponsor a portion of Brigada’s expenses for web page hosting and hardware/software costs at MAFxc, just write . Thanks!

WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PERSECUTED CHURCH???
Here’s at least one key contact . . . sam@ricommunity.com, contact person for the First National Conference on Religious Persecution, March 26-28, Columbia, SC.

The conference will feature leading religious liberty advocates and first person reports from many nations.

YOUR GREAT MISSION TRIP PICTURES ARE ABOUT TO BE DESTROYED!
Did you hear the latest study on the CPX-5000, a popular scanning machine for checked airline baggage? Apparently, film companies found that nearly every speed and every kind of film was fogged or otherwise ruined, even when stored away in checked baggage! The upshot??? Invest $20 in one of those lead x-ray proof bags. Small change compared to the bucks you’re investing in your missions photos!

PHILIPPINE MISSION CONFERENCE TO PROMOTE UNREACHED
1998 is the Centennial of the Philippines, both as an independent nation and as the 100th anniversary of Biblical Christianity in this country. One important Centennial Event is the Centennial Missions Congress, to be held in Manila on June 23-26. The main goal of this Congress is to see Churches “adopt” the remaining major UPG’s in the Philippines. And also for many churches to be “locked on” to a global missions vision. Please pray this Congress can produce real, focused action to achieve these results. In fact do please keep this country in your prayers throughout this year, with presidential elections in May, and other issues like the economic shaking in Asia; please intercede for the Philippines. This country on the doorstep of the 10/40 Window could have a special role in God’s plan to send His word throughout this region. Feel free to contact Jeff Woollett of YWAM Philippines at woollett@pworld.net.ph if you have any questions.

RECONCILIATION PRODUCTION FOR BOSNIA
For four long years the people of Bosnia have suffered unspeakable horrors. Their country, once a part of Yugoslavia, became a bloody battleground when long-simmering ethnic rivalries between Serbians, Croatians and Bosnians erupted into full-scale war. The devastating toll included thousands of casualties, refugees and orphaned children. There was also widespread destruction of roads and buildings. Today, although the fighting is over, strong animosity still exists. The need for healing, rebuilding, and reconciliation is greater than ever. Impact Teams International (ITI), an international relief agency, is responding to this need through refugee resettlement, reconstruction projects and a child trauma center. In addition, ITI is creating and sponsoring a stage production to promote reconciliation in Bosnia. IMPACT is now accepting applications for this powerful drama. We need dancers, musicians, sound and light technicians, stage crew members, administrators, and logistical staff for this tremendous team effort in Bosnia this summer. The team is presently working in Kona, Hawaii, but team members plan to be in Bosnia by June or July and touring through mid-Sept. The actual dates of the production tour are August 1-September 13, 1998. If interested call Mauricio Palacio at 808-326-4464, fax: 808-326-4434, or email Impactteams@compuserve.com.

not symbolPLEASE DON’T SUBSCRIBE US TO YOUR LIST — It’s always better to ask before manually force-adding anyone to your list-serve or mailing list. Recently, tons of well-meaning people have been subscribing Doug to their lists. Since he often travels overseas, he doesn’t join many of those, for obvious reasons (like being charged big-time for overseas access). So as a general rule, please don’t bulk-mail us! See the note above if you’d like to submit items for Brigada Today. Thanks for understanding. Bottom line: We will never create Brigada Today items from bulk mail. Bulk mail gets deleted immediately — sorry. Nothing personal. We suggest you apply the same standard to everyone. Ask first!

OPCWARNING ABOUT FORWARDING EMAILS — Please, before forwarding any kind of request (even if it says “please send this to all your friends”), please check to make sure it has a VERIFIABLE ORIGIN, a VERIFIABLE PURPOSE, and a VERIFIABLE CLOSURE (OPC). By following this simple approach, many “email viruses” could be nipped in the bud… at least in the Brigada family. More information about the full Brigada OPC protocol is available. Thank you.
