THOSE ASIANS ARE AT IT AGAIN!
Remember how I told you when I grew up I wanted to be Korean??? Well I wanna’ hurry up and grow up! ‘Cause if I don’t hurry, the Koreans and their partners will have finished the great commission task anyway! :-) Have you heard about the conference in Seoul that just wrapped up today? Yikes. Big news. Luis Bush wrote this morning with some amazing predictions…. many still in the works. But at the very least, the published AD2000 report is saying that 124 leaders from 16 Asian nations joined hands, at one point, and shouted “YES!” in response to the call to commit themselves and their ministries to complete the Joshua Project goals by December 31, 2000. Simultaneously, some 600 Korean Pastors were meeting to discuss new ways to foster cooperation and promote synergy among themselves. It probably comes as no surprise that their response to this challenge was equally affirmative. Specifically, Korean Church leaders reportedly committed this week to adopt at least 1150 of the remaining 1739 Joshua Project 2000 people groups and launch a church planting movement in their midst. Note that this is not just a commitment to send a JP2000 team… but rather, to see that a church planting movement is launched there. Well. Now that the Koreans have claimed 1150 of the 1739, do you think we in the rest of the world will be able to tackle the 680 that remain??? I mean… after all… surely they’re not the only ones with a S[e]oul. When I grow up… :-)

GLOBAL GLIMPSE FROM GERMANY
As the Reconciliation Walk, a Christian march bringing repentance on the trail of the Crusades 900 years ago, reached Cologne, Germany, a wonderful thing happened. A local Turkish Imam (Muslim holy man) was given the printed message of reconciliation, and he invited the 150 participants in the march to the mosque. It was explained in three languages that the marchers had come to apologize for the cruel acts committed in the name of Christ during the Crusades. The Muslims present responded with long and loud applause. “As I heard your message,” said the Imam, “I was amazed and filled with hope. It is my desire that this project be a very great success.”

Global Glimpses are contributed each week by John Hanna, Caleb Project, Littleton, CO.

YWAM’S GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES VIDEO MAGAZINE’S PRICE HAS BEEN SLASHED!
This largely untapped resource is full of news & profiles of YWAM ministries worldwide. It’s intended to keep staff informed of ministries in the greater YWAM family, and when shown in schools, to introduce opportunities to DTS students. Procla-Media is taking a risk! In order to make Global Perspectives available to a larger audience, they are dropping the subscription price to $25 a year and going quarterly–$25 for all countries including postage! (Run the math. How can they do that! :-)) Don Stephens (Mercy Ships Director) says, “Watching [Global Perspectives] will inform you for prayer, involve you for action, and move you with compassion.” It’s appropriate for: YWAM bases, schools, and ministries; families; supporters; and churches.

To subscribe, FAX Global Perspectives at 1 (719) 380-0936 or E-Mail at 76551.2032@compuserve.com. Finally, something worthwhile to use a TV for! :-)
