What’s your take on the 4/14 Window movement?
I’ve been visiting this website for several years now. (We produce a video series for children in the majority world.) They don’t spend much time on their site, as many of the buttons take you to the same place, and I’ve signed up several times to receive their email updates, but have yet to receive a single one… But their .pdf booklet on “raising up a new generation..” is full of great information, and a must-read!
I have no problem with reaching out to children. The problem I have is with the idea that people between the ages of 4 and 14 are the ones most likely to respond to the gospel. I am not convinced this has ever been proven.
Statistically, most of the people who come to faith are children – over 45 million children are born into Christian homes per year, vs. an estimated 15 million (globally) who convert. But it seems to me more likely that the reason more children come in, and come in “earlier” in life is not that they are more responsive, but rather than they had an earlier opportunity!
If 86% of non-Christians do not know a believer, then get outside the realm of the Christian family and it is significantly less likely that you will hear the Gospel. It’s the children of Christians who are evangelized the most, because they are evangelized by their families, friends, and the churches their families attend.
