7) Is This the Best Starter Email Newsletter Service?

For so long, MailChimp has been considered by many as the “go-to” starter email package for Christian workers. But here’s a service that offers two-and-a-half times as much value for the same price point: zero. We just introduced co-worker to this service. He was up and running within hours, complete with an imported list of subscribers. We’ve been using this for our astronomy newsletter now for a year and we love it. (Want to see a working model? Subscribe to Doug’s astronomy notifications at https://emeraldhillsskies.com/.) At least give Sender.net a try at https://www.sender.net/pricing/. Bonus: When you’re ready to send bulk texts, Sender.net can do those too – just like MailChip but for double the group size. read more…

8) Less Than 5% of Sudanese Can Afford a Meal Per Day

8) Less Than 5% of Sudanese Can Afford a Meal Per Day

Researcher Justin Long sent us a message this past week with a subject line, “Maranatha, Lord.” The one line in the email? “Wouldn’t now be a good time?” His meaning was simple: He had been researching stories like the one in the Guardian citing evidence that a child in Zamzam camp (Darfur) dies every two hours (https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2024/feb/21/darfur-sudan-zamzam-camp-child-dies-every-two-hours) and an equally poignant story from Radio Dabanga (from within Sudan) that research by the World Food Programme had recently concluded that less than 5% of Sudanese can afford one meal per day. Ten months of war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) there has crippled virtually everything. It’s time to pray harder, friends. 10) Good News About the Gospel in 2024

10) Good News About the Gospel in 2024

Just when you thought there was no good news to tell… along came Aaron Earls at Lifeway Research with “8 Encouraging Trends in Global Christianity for 2024.” His good news is all about the growth of the Gospel. His research shows that atheism is shrinking, more churches are being planted, fewer people are without access to the Gospel, and more money is being given to Christian causes. (Read his whole article at https://research.lifeway.com/2024/01/22/8-encouraging-trends-in-global-christianity-for-2024/.). In the midst of a troubled world, there are still positive signs. (Thanks for our friends at https://missionscatalyst.net/ for pointing us to this item.) read more…
