Let’s say you’re trying to learn a new language and you want to play whole-text listening drills. What’s the best option for creating virtual flash cards that can incorporate audio recordings of the spoken text (from the voice of your language helper) along with pictures to help you remember the phrase? The best we’ve found is an app called Anki ( https://apps.ankiweb.net/ ). Click read more for more on this. It’s free – at least for the Windows version. (You might have to pay a one-time fee for your smartphone version.) You can sync across all devices – and there’s no monthly fee once you install. Granted – it’s a bit difficult to get the hang of it (a bit tech-heavy) – since it’s open source. We had to read the instructions over and over again. Also, in our case, it took a while to install (but maybe that was because we chose to upgrade to the latest version as we installed?). What’s your favorite flashcard app? (Thanks for recommending Anki, Carlton!)
