An Iranian court has sentenced Hesamoddin Mohammad Joneydi, a 45-year-old Christian convert, to 7 years and 6 months for “propaganda activities contrary to Islamic law” plus 7 months on related charges. (You can see the article here: https://iranwire.com/en/religious-minorities/145088-iranian-court-sentences-christian-convert-to-over-8-years-in-prison/.)
He was accused of involvement in Christian training courses overseas, attending house churches and online Christian meetings, and promoting Christianity. Despite the constitutional “recognition” of Christianity in Iran, the regime continues targeting converts and underground believers (https://www.mnnonline.org/news/targets-on-their-backs-iranian-christians-under-increasing-danger/). Let’s commit to intercede for Hesamoddin and others who are being persecuted for their faith:
-
Pray for Hesamoddin’s protection, spiritual strength, health, and endurance.
-
Pray for his family, that they would know God’s peace and provision.
-
Pray for the underground church in Iran — for wisdom, boldness, and unity.
-
Pray that justice and mercy would prevail in the Iranian judicial system and that converts would not be oppressed for their faith.
Who do you know that is being persecuted for their faith? Please comment with their first name so that we can pray for them as well. (Thank you, Justin, for alerting us to these articles.)
