A Brigada reader is asking, “Does anyone have suggestions for the best evangelistic books to distribute or give as gifts? An evangelistic book would be one that presents a clear and engaging explanation of the Gospel such as Billy Graham’s, Peace with God, or John Stott’s, Basic Christianity.” Could Brigada readers suggest books for such a list? Please comment.
8) Books That Build Us: Brigada Readers’ Corner
I’ m responding to your number 8.My memoirs could be good . They are now purchasable from Amazon. The Title is God’s Sonrise on Japan’s Samurais. They look cheap to me i.e. easily bought. For reference I notice you have connections with Emmaus Correspondence Courses. That’s my group. We are slightly clandestine but first class as Christians .Some members are cessationist but I am definitely not so. I am a New Zealander but that doesn’t mean I’m a leper!
God bless Brigada.
The best book(let) other than the Bible itself that I know of is “The Reason Why” by Robert Laidlaw of NZ. It is avaiable in several languages including Japanese which I have used for 65 years here in Japan. I knew Bro Laidlaw but any bias can be discovered by reading it your good self.
It’s frustrating when your petty system changes my small case letters into Capitals when I type in my email address
Hi Richard. Happened to see your comment here. When the internet was in its infancy, case mattered – both for emails and for websites. But now, years later, the internet has matured and now, case no longer matters. The template Brigada uses for its website might change lower case to upper case on email addresses – but rest assured — they will still work just fine on todays’ internet. Just FYI.
Evangelism books: “Bruchko” by Bruce Olson. An astonishing story that is inspiring too.
My favorites: “More Than a Carpenter” (Josh McDowell), “Mere Christianity” (C.S. Lewis), “Orthodoxy” (G.K. Chesterton), “The Everlasting Man” (G.K. Chesterton)… depending on whom I am giving the book to.
“Saving Evangelicals” by E. Joel Van Hoogen is an excellent resource (https://a.co/d/fibtv32). Written in a simple and profound way, this book lays out the evidences of salvation and the work of God in salvation. Highly recommend!
