  1. CHINESE BIBLES: BETTER THAN WE THOUGHT -- According to a couple of very connected Brigada participants, Amity Press is doing even better than we thought at getting Bibles into the hands of Chinese. Without going into a lot of detail, suffice it to say that it sounds like they're being very intentional and effective at making that connection. God be praised.

  2. THANKS FOR THE PRAYERS; COULD YOU SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT BRIGADA? -- One Brigada participant wrote that he is not able to make any kind of gift at this time, but he *did* commit to pray for Brigada. Obviously, that would be most excellent. As we turn the corner into 2008, would you also consider trying to find 10 new Brigada subscribers? Just ask them to send an email to:

    brigada-today-subscribe@googlegroups.com

Here's a block of sample text:

"Hello. Interested in getting a free email (once a week) highlighting missions resources, opportunities, and helps? I've found Brigada Today to be helpful... and so have 11,000 others. It's easy to get hooked up. Just send a blank email to: brigada-today-subscribe@googlegroups.com That's all there is to it. The rest is automatic. And just so you know, they never send out anything else to that address, nor is it sold or made available to anyone else. Just FYI, in case you're interested!"

Thanks for helping us get the word out!

  3. ANOTHER CALLING CARD TO TRY -- Brigada participant, Charles, wrote this past week to recommend SpeedyPin.

    http:\\www.SpeedyPin.com

"The card permits calls to Myanmar for 21 cents per minute with one minute rounding and no weekly fees. Most cards in this price range use three minute rounding with weekly charges until the minutes are used up. SpeedyPin has a great feature whereby they will (optionally, of course) automatically recharge the minutes on the card when they fall below a preset limit - say $5.00 worth, or whatever. This is a great time saver for us. We have been using this site for months with absolutely no problems." (Thanks for the tip, Charles!)

  4. NEED A GREAT PRESENTATION? HAVE YOU TRIED PRO SHOW GOLD? -- One of our team leaders in North Africa put me on to this new product. It's kinda like a cross between Powerpoint, Adobe Premier, and Microsoft MovieMaker. Just import your MP3 sound track, then drag in your photos, then assemble your slide show and ... bam... your presentation is ready to make its way out on the stage! Pro Show "Gold" will probably work for just about everyone; but if you need to produce AVI files, you'll need Producer. Prices are reasonable, quality is excellent, and the payoff is big-time. Highly recommended.

  5. COMIN' UP ON 13 YEARS OF BRIGADA -- Can you believe it? Brigada will be a teenager? On Jan. 25th, we'll celebrate 13 years of weekly updates. Well, maybe not always *weekly*, but at least one for each week. :-) Remember you can read every single one (shew; I'm sure that's your favorite night-time reading, right? :-) ) by simply logging on at...

    http://www.brigada.org

Click on 'back issues' and you can sort through by date... or click "Search" to type in a word or two from the item; just make sure the radio button is clicked to search Brigada domain only (as opposed to searching the entire web).

  6. HAVE A GLORIOUS NEW YEAR CELEBRATION!!! -- From Brigada to you, we wish you the very best new year celebration ever! Let's make 2008 the best year ever for global missions!

  7. THANK THE LORD FOR THESE GIFTS OF ENCOURAGEMENT -- Just arrived are gifts from anonymous givers in ... St. Louis, MO -- $100 and Bellflower, CA -- $25

"Lord, please bless these encouragers for undergirding the work of Brigada!

  8. TEN FINAL DAYS FOR 2007 GIFTS TO ARRIVE: WILL YOURS BE ONE? -- For those who mail in checks, we'll need to allow about ten days for gifts to arrive... (because one could write out a check on Dec. 31st, mail it, and we might not see it for a few days). So ... to be fair... we'll count PayPal gifts toward 2007 needs all the way up through Jan. 10, 2008. As a result, all is not lost! :-) Even though we're only standing at $11,558.90, we still have time to try to make our 2007 budget needs of $17,150. To pull this off, we'd need 74 more people, groups, or churches to step up to the plate. Just *one* courageous soul would need to give $1000 and 2 would have to pray in $500 each, in order to meet our 2007 needs. Here are the gifts we still need to raise in order to meet those 2007 ministry needs:

    1 (of 1) more gift of $1000

    2 (of 5) more gifts of $500

    8 (of 10) more gifts of $250

    0 (of 13) more gifts of $100

    13 (of 28) more gifts of $50

    49 (of 70) more gifts of $25

The total for 2006 was $15,096. To match 2006 giving, we still need to come up with at least $3,537.10 in these next 10 days. Gulp. Would you pray with us that everyone who *can* *will* step forward? Thanks.

You can make a gift from your PayPal account or from any major credit card. Or if you prefer, you can send a check payable to Team Expansion to: Team Expansion (Brigada secretary), 11327 Jefferson Trace Blvd., Louisville, KY 40291. (Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so for USA citizens, your checks made out to Team Expansion are tax- deductible.) As always, be sure to let us know if you'd like us to promote any particular service or ministry, or if you'd prefer your gift be anonymous. And thank you in advance for helping.

  9. THE BACKPAGE: WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 3 NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS? -- If you don't mind sharing, please fill us in. Just go to:

    http://brigada.org/brigade/?p=56

Click on "Comment" in the lines right below the item.

What are mine? OK... I'll get us started. In 2008, I resolve to...

*** Help our organization make the move to our new campus in 2008. (See our progress at:

    http://www.emeraldhills.info

*** Finish the corrections to my doctoral dissertation. (I received the feedback from my committee and it's a good news-bad news kinda' thing. Not a cakewalk but then, they didn't tell me to start over, either. I'd love to finish my Ph.D. during 2008.)

*** Become a better vision-caster, leader, father, husband, and friend.

Those are 3 from my own list. Now it's your turn. Let's hear them! :-)

  10. CLOSING STUFF -- SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION -- Important! Please don't just hit "reply". Subscriptions are automated. First, you need to determine the mailing source of your individual copy of Brigada Today. We're now sending them from 2 sources. To find out, just look at the "From:" address of your last edition. The domain will tell the tale. Here's how to do it:

If your Brigadas come via YahooGroups: To unsubscribe, write to brigada-today-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com To subscribe, write to brigada-today-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

If your Brigadas come via GoogleGroups: To unsubscribe, write to brigada-today-unsubscribe@googlegroups.com To subscribe, write to brigada-today-subscribe@googlegroups.com

To change your address, you must unsubscribe using your old address then subscribe anew using your new service. If you are receiving this email via some "alias" that you'd like to unsubscribe, try putting that alias email address in the "From:" box of your email client temporarily, then send the unsubscribe message (mentioned above). It'll probably "spoof" the server into unsubscribing that old address. Then just change your "From:" box back to your new address.

TO SUBMIT AN ITEM -- We love to feature your news & resources! To find out how, read our submission guidelines on the web at: http://www.brigada.org/submissions.html

TO LEARN MORE -- Interested in learning more about Brigada? Read our site at: http://www.brigada.org and you'll learn the who, what, when, why and where of Brigada. By the way, we no longer provide server-sent files via email-activated commands. Just read all about us on the web!

NEED SUBSCRIPTION HELP? -- If you're a sponsor, you can now write to help(at)brigada(dot)org [replace (at) with @ and (dot) with .] and get a real human response. For information about becoming a sponsor, log on at: http://www.brigada.org and click on "Sponsor" in the top line menu. Note that due to the large number of subscribers (literally thousands) only sponsors get human help.

DISCLAIMER -- We can't screen 'em all. Please forgive us if a particular site contains offensive information -- or no information at all! We *try* to visit them in advance, but often write "on the road" so we simply *can't* preview everything.

PLEASE DON'T SUBSCRIBE US TO YOUR LIST -- Sorry -- nothing personal -- but we're already deluged. We'll eventually teach our spam filter to just delete it anyway, but in the meantime, we'll have a sad face because of the volume of mass mailings we receive. :-(

WARNING ABOUT FORWARDING EMAILS -- Just say no! :-) Read our thoughts about forwarding emails at http://www.brigada.org/articles/opc.html

WHY DO WE SAY, "[replace (at) with @ and (dot) with .]"? -- More and more shady marketing types ("spammers" and "scammers") are using computerized searches to harvest email addresses from off the web without asking permission of the owner. We use this "plain English" addressing syntax to avert automated harvesting for our contributors.

PRIVACY INFORMATION -- We will never give your information to anybody. We won't market you, won't hassle you, and won't ever bother you. You won't be signed up for mailings you didn't request. Your address is safe and your future is secure. Life is good. :-)
